Notifications
How long does it take for notifications to arrive?
Twitch: Under 30 seconds
YouTube: 2-5 minutes
Kick: Under 30 seconds
If notifications are delayed longer than 10 minutes, check Troubleshooting.
Can I customize what the notifications say?
Yes! All users (Free and Premium) can use custom message templates to customize notification text. Configure templates in the Web Portal:
Example template:
🔴 {streamer} is live playing {game}!
{url}Available variables: {streamer}, {title}, {game}, {url}, {viewer_count}, and more.
See Notifications Guide for full details.
Can notifications mention a role?
Yes! Configure a ping role in the Web Portal under streamer settings. When streamers go live, the notification will mention this role to alert members.
Why am I not getting notifications?
Common causes:
- Bot Permissions: Ensure bot has "Send Messages" and "Embed Links" in the notification channel
- Streamer Not Added: Verify in the Web Portal using
/portal - Platform Delays: YouTube can take 2-5 minutes
- Platform Issues: Twitch/YouTube/Kick may be experiencing issues (check status pages)
See Troubleshooting for detailed solutions.
Can I get notifications in multiple channels?
Yes! Both Free and Premium tiers can route individual streamers to different channels:
- Send Twitch streams to
#twitch-alerts - Send YouTube streams to
#youtube-alerts - Create game-specific channels
- Organize by streamer priority
When you add a streamer with /streamer add, you specify which channel should receive notifications for that streamer. You can assign each streamer to a different channel or send them all to the same channel.
Do notifications work for YouTube premieres?
No, premieres are not treated as live streams and won't trigger notifications. Only actual live streams trigger notifications.
This is intentional to prevent confusion between live content and pre-recorded uploads.

- If they changed their @handle, update it
- If you're using channel ID, no action needed (IDs don't change)
Can I track streamers from my own account?

Troubleshooting
The bot isn't responding to commands
Check:
- Bot is online (green status in member list)
- You have required permissions (Manage Server for most commands)
- Commands are slash commands (use
/streamer, not!streamer) - Bot has "Use Application Commands" permission
If still not working:
- Kick and re-invite the bot
- Contact support
Notifications stopped working suddenly
Common Causes:
- Channel Deleted: Notification channel was removed
- Permissions Changed: Bot lost required permissions
- Connection Refresh: Platform connections need renewal (happens automatically)
- Platform Issues: Twitch/YouTube/Kick may be experiencing issues
Solutions:
- Use
/portalto verify streamers are still tracked in the Web Portal - Check that notification channels still exist
- Verify bot has permissions in notification channel
- Wait 5 minutes for system to stabilize
How do I reset my configuration?
Remove Streamers:
- Remove individual streamers:
/streamer remove platform:Twitch username:name - Or use the Web Portal to manage streamers visually
Reset Advanced Settings:
- Use the Web Portal to reset templates, embed colors, and other settings
Note: Removing configuration doesn't cancel Premium subscription. Manage that in Discord Server Settings.
I'm hitting the streamer limit
Free Tier: Maximum 15 streamers (5 Twitch + 5 YouTube + 5 Kick)
Solutions:
- Remove unused streamers
- Upgrade to Premium (360 streamers: 300 Twitch + 10 YouTube + 50 Kick)
- Prioritize your most important streamers
Check Current Usage:
/subscriptionPlatform-Specific
Twitch: How often are viewer counts updated?
Viewer counts are automatically updated in the Discord notification embed when stream metadata changes. Updates occur based on the monitoring interval (typically every few minutes).
If the embed isn't updating, ensure the bot has permission to edit messages in the notification channel.
YouTube: Why are notifications delayed?
YouTube notifications typically have a 2-5 minute delay due to how YouTube's notification system works. This is a YouTube platform limitation, not a Streamlinx issue.
Streamlinx includes backup monitoring to ensure reliable notifications. Most notifications arrive within 2 minutes.
YouTube: How do I find my channel handle?
Visit your YouTube channel, look at the URL:
youtube.com/@ChannelName→ handle is@ChannelName
Use this format when adding: /streamer add platform:YouTube username:@ChannelName channel:#notifications
See YouTube Setup for details.
Twitch: Why did notifications stop after 10 days?
Streamlinx connections to Twitch need periodic renewal. The system automatically handles this every 6 hours.
If notifications stop unexpectedly (rare):
- Remove and re-add the streamer
- Contact support if issue persists
